Iranian media said today, Sunday, that the United Nations representative to Iraq, Jeanine Plasschaert, emphasized the constructive Iranian role in Iraq, during her visit to Iran and her meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian.
Mehr News Agency reported that Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian received today, Sunday, the Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jeanine Plasschaert, who is on a visit to Tehran.
During this meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister considered that the relationship between Iran and Iraq is solid and strong.
Amir Abdollahian emphasized that the strong and broad relations between the two countries are based on people-to-people relations and comprehensive official cooperation, which, in addition to their bilateral effects on the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq, contribute effectively to stability, development and sustainable security in the region.
He stressed the importance of Iraq's regional role by referring to the constructive and distinguished relations between the two countries.
In response to the statements of the Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Abdullahian pointed to the importance of border security between Iran and Iraq and stressed the need for strict implementation of the security agreement between the two countries.
While Plasschaert emphasized the constructive role of the Islamic Republic of Iran with regard to Iraq, she explained her views on internal and regional developments related to Iraq.
