President of France Emmanuel Macron spoke over the phone with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, to discuss the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh enclave.
The French President had previously pledged to launch a "diplomatic initiative" in an effort to lift Azerbaijan's ongoing blockade of the Lachin road, which links Armenia with the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave.
Armenia and Azerbaijan had fought two wars over the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, the latest was in 2020 which ended with a fragile ceasefire.
