Official: Malaysia, Indonesia eager for peacekeeping mission to Palestine

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said his country is ready to cooperate with Indonesia to a send peacekeeping force to Palestine, should the UN allow it.In a statement on Tuesday, Ibrahim said that he and Indonesia's Minister of Defense and President-elect Prabowo Subianto had discussed the topic in a phone call, hoping the cooperation between the two countries would expand across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).Subianto had previously stated during the Shangri-la Dialogue, held in Singapore last month, that his country is willing to send a peacekeeping mission to impose a ceasefire in Gaza.Last October, Anwar noted that sending a Malaysian peacekeeping mission is not a "simple decision", adding that his country will take the step in cooperation with its partners and alliesSource: Kuwait News Agency
