Sultan bin Ahmed Opens Rumi Exhibition at House of Wisdom.

Sharjah: H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, inaugurated the 'Rumi: 750 Years of Absence... Eight Centuries of Presence' exhibition at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah. This exhibition, which will run until 14th February 2025, offers a unique exploration of the life and legacy of Jalal al-Din Al Rumi, a renowned poet, philosopher, and author.According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Sultan was received by key figures including Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority; Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Government Relations in Sharjah; and other notable officials and diplomats. The exhibition aims to highlight Rumi's influence on literature, philosophy, and Sufism, providing visitors with an opportunity to delve into his journey and impact.Commenting on the exhibition, Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi emphasized Sharjah's role as a cultural connector and re flected on Rumi's timeless wisdom. She noted that the exhibition fosters an understanding of shared humanity and encourages compassion and inspiration through Rumi's teachings. The exhibition also serves as a prelude to the Tanweer Festival, set to take place in November, which will further explore themes of love and light through music, poetry, and art.The exhibition is divided into three sections: 'The Beginnings,' which examines Rumi's early life; 'The Transformation,' detailing his spiritual awakening; and 'The Legacy,' showcasing his lasting impact on the world. This immersive experience is made possible through collaboration with Shurooq and the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums in Trkiye, bringing together artefacts and manuscripts from esteemed institutions.Visitors will have the chance to view a collection of priceless items, including rare manuscripts and artefacts from the Seljuk era. These exhibits encapsulate Rumi's teachings of love, unity, and enlightenment, demonstrating their enduring relevance across cultures and generations. The exhibition is sponsored by Sharjah Islamic Bank and DGR, reinforcing the House of Wisdom's role as a hub for cultural appreciation and community engagement.
