China’s Export Growth Slows in May Amid Falling US Shipments

Beijing: China's exports rose 4.8 percent in May from a year earlier, which was lower than anticipated due to a nearly 10 percent decline in shipments to the United States, according to customs figures released on Monday. Imports declined 3.4 percent year-on-year, resulting in a trade surplus of US$103.2 billion.According to Emirates News Agency, China exported $28.8 billion to the United States in May, while its imports from the US decreased by 7.4 percent to $10.8 billion. This development marked a slowdown in trade after China's global exports had jumped 8.1 percent in April.
