Abu dhabi: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Chairman of Sandooq Al Watan, announced that the third summer programmes, starting tomorrow and concluding on July 31, are expected to attract 50,000 school and university students from across the emirates. These programmes will take place in 54 venues, including government and private schools, as well as cultural and youth centres.
According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Nahyan highlighted that these programmes are designed to reflect the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, focusing on fostering a strong and sustainable national identity among the younger generations. The goal is to build future generations who are deeply connected to their national identity, proud of their Arabic language, and who embody values of belonging and loyalty.
The programmes will offer a wide array of activities, including entertainment, sports, artistic, and knowledge-based events. This year, for the first time, over 30 theatrical performances will be showcased by UAE creatives and artists. Additionally, the programmes will feature events related to Arabic calligraphy, heritage, and storytelling, along with creative games and daily competitions offering instant prizes, alongside various sports games.
Yasser Al Gargawi, Director General of Sandooq Al Watan, explained that the programmes are tailored for students aged 8-16, divided into three categories. Group 1, for ages 8-10, will focus on physical activities and short stories. Group 2, for ages 11-13, will engage in interactive discussions and simple analysis. Group 3, for ages 14-16, will concentrate on small projects and volunteer initiatives.
