Ain sokhna: DP World has handled the largest-ever specialist vessel carrying slag cargo at Ain Sokhna Port, marking another milestone in its bulk cargo operations. This achievement signifies a significant development in the port's capacity to manage large-scale shipments and reflects the progress in Egypt's trade infrastructure.
According to Emirates News Agency, this call at Ain Sokhna Port follows a series of recent handling achievements by DP World Egypt. These include the docking of an LNG vessel, a record iron ore delivery, and the arrival of a major cruise ship, all of which highlight the broad economic impact of the terminal's operations.
The vessel, MV KEEPER, boasts an overall length (LOA) of 289 metres and carried 152,150 metric tonnes of slag metal, setting a new operational record at the terminal. This shipment is part of a broader commercial agreement that aims for the terminal to handle approximately 300,000 tonnes in total, marking a substantial increase compared to previous cargo volumes.
CEO Mohammed Shihab remarked, "The successful handling of MV KEEPER reflects the results of our continued investment in Egypt's trade infrastructure, through our multi-purpose terminal, integrated end-to-end logistics solutions, and the operational excellence of our team." He further emphasized that this accomplishment reinforces DP World's commitment to supporting Egypt's key industrial sectors and showcases the country's growing capacity to meet global commerce demands, bolstered by world-class logistics capabilities.
