Diplomacy Based on Human Communication Key to Global Peace, UAE Emphasizes at IPU-UN Conference

Geneva: Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee in the Federal National Council (FNC), led a panel discussion focused on innovation for peace, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, and the role of parliaments in shaping the digital future. This session was part of the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament held in collaboration with the United Nations.

According to Emirates News Agency, Al Nuaimi highlighted the importance of building trust, communication, and dialogue between countries and societies, describing these as fundamental pillars for achieving human solidarity and international peace and security. He advocated for innovative approaches grounded in dialogue and partnership to tackle contemporary challenges, underscoring that diplomacy rooted in human communication is essential for global security and peace.

He further emphasized the necessity of enhancing cultural communication channels and investing in shared human values to foster a stable and tolerant future. This, he explained, would contribute to expanding opportunities for sustainable development and achieving long-term prosperity for the global population.

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), alongside the United Nations, is hosting the conference from July 29 to 31, 2025, at the Palais des Nations, United Nations Office at Geneva. The event's theme, ''A world in turmoil: Parliamentary cooperation and multilateralism for peace, justice and prosperity for all,'' aims to address pressing global issues through parliamentary collaboration.

The World Conference of Speakers of Parliament convenes every five years, bringing together top parliamentary representatives and United Nations officials. These conferences have historically played a crucial role in enhancing the parliamentary aspect of global governance and addressing the democracy gap in international affairs. During the event, world legislators interact with leaders from international organizations, academia, civil society, and the media.
