Jakarta: The International Conference on Human Fraternity, held in Jakarta and jointly organised by Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) and the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity (HCHF), concluded with the announcement of the Jakarta Declaration on Human Fraternity. The two-day event, which took place on July 29-30, 2025, focused on the theme 'Advancing Human Fraternity Amid Global Uncertainty: Towards a More Peaceful and Prosperous Civilisation'.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Jakarta Declaration emerged from extensive discussions covering four key areas: cross-border fraternity, rights and social justice, the role of media in bridging societal divides, and environmental justice amidst global crises. The declaration reflects a commitment to fostering inclusive dialogue, protecting human dignity, and building frameworks for sustainable peace in a fragmented world.
Ambassador Dr. Khalid Al-Ghaith, Secretary General of HCHF, highlighted the declaration's role as a practical step toward global fraternity. He stated that the declaration is a vital move towards strengthening human fraternity in a world threatened by conflict and division.
Prof. Jamhari Makruf, Rector of UIII, emphasized the importance of the declaration for future global peace efforts. He affirmed UIII's commitment to promoting the values of compassion, justice, and solidarity beyond academic discussions and into real-world applications.
The Jakarta Declaration serves as a guiding document for future collaborations in advancing human dignity, solidarity, and global harmony, while also laying the groundwork for initiatives by the newly established Indonesian Institute for Human Fraternity. The conference saw participation from over 200 attendees, including notable dignitaries such as Abdulla Salem AlDhaheri, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Indonesia and Non-Resident Ambassador to Timor-Leste and ASEAN.
