Abu dhabi: The UAE Media Council announced it has flagged an advertising account on a social media platform for breaching conditions and controls outlined in the executive regulation governing media.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Council emphasized its dedication to monitoring and regulating non-compliant advertising practices. It urged all advertisers and influencers on digital platforms to strictly adhere to approved regulations and standards to foster a responsible and reliable media environment.
The advertisement in question was found to contain unverified medical and therapeutic claims for a product, lacking necessary approval from the relevant health authority. Additionally, the ad was identified as having misleading information, contravening professional media standards.
The Council has summoned the advertiser and initiated legal proceedings based on existing legislation.
