Uganda’s Embassy in UAE Celebrates National Day with Diplomatic Reception


Abu dhabi: The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in the UAE hosted a reception to celebrate the country’s National Day, attended by Maha Harqous, Deputy Director of the African Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event saw the presence of officials and members of the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps accredited to the UAE.



According to Emirates News Agency, Zaake Kibedi, Ambassador of Uganda to the UAE, addressed the gathering, highlighting the robust relations between Uganda and the UAE since establishing diplomatic ties in 2007. He emphasized the shared commitment of both nations’ leadership to further strengthen cooperation in support of mutual development goals.



Kibedi mentioned that recent high-level visits and meetings between the two countries have opened promising opportunities to enhance bilateral relations across economic, trade, cultural, developmental, and political sectors, fostering deeper cooperation.



Maha Harqous expressed honor in joining the celebration of the 63rd anniversary of Uganda’s independence. She stated that the UAE values Uganda’s leadership and conveyed the UAE’s warm congratulations to Uganda’s government and people. Harqous also highlighted the signing of bilateral agreements in energy, infrastructure, transport, and digital services, noting the UAE’s position as Uganda’s top trading partner, with bilateral trade doubling in 2024 to reach $2.85 billion.



The celebration concluded with traditional Ugandan cultural performances, showcasing the country’s rich heritage.
