Hamdan Bin Mohammed Launches ‘Dubai Lunch’ Initiative to Strengthen Social Ties

Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, engaged with over 200 local dignitaries and families from Deira at the inaugural 'Dubai Lunch' initiative event. This gathering, held at Al Khawaneej Majlis, was organized under the supervision of the Community Development Authority, following an invitation from Mohammed Juma Al Naboodah.

According to Emirates News Agency, 'Dubai Lunch' is a community-driven initiative aimed at reinforcing social connections and neighbourly bonds through community gatherings at various Majlises across Dubai. The initiative seeks to revive the traditional role of these Majlises as inclusive forums that foster familiarity and solidarity among residents.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed emphasized the importance of social cohesion in sustaining Dubai's development. He noted that the strength of a city lies not just in its infrastructure but also in the close bonds shared by its people. He highlighted that Community Majlises provide an ideal setting for people to connect and for values to be passed down through lived experience.

The 'Dubai Lunch' initiative aims to reaffirm foundational principles such as compassion, open communication, hospitality, and shared responsibility. By hosting open lunch gatherings across Dubai, the initiative seeks to enhance social capital and build sustainable relationships among residents, aligning with the Dubai Social Agenda 33.

Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director-General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai, stated that the initiative translates leadership's vision of people-centred development into tangible community action. She emphasized that Community Majlises have evolved into spaces fostering sustainable relationships and improved quality of life.

As Dubai prepares to celebrate the Year of the Family in 2026, the initiative is tailored to strengthen community values, revive the social role of Majlises, and enhance a shared sense of belonging.
