Sharjah: Sharjah Media City (Shams) has unveiled the jury for the second Shams Award for Arabic Content, highlighting the growing recognition of the award as a prestigious platform for celebrating high-quality Arabic media creations.
According to Emirates News Agency, the jury boasts a diverse array of professionals, including Dr. Habib Ghuloom, an artist and academic; Tarek El Shennawy, a writer and film critic; Yara Sabri, an actor; Malek Maktabi, a broadcaster; and Ahmed Salem bin Samnouh, a media expert. These individuals bring extensive experience in the arts and media, ensuring a judging process grounded in professionalism, balance, and critical insight.
The second edition of the award has captured significant attention from content creators across the Arab world, with 1,210 submissions in eight primary categories. These categories encompass short films, podcasts, AI-generated content, and unproduced screenplays, alongside awards for Best Actor and Best Actress, underscoring the richness of the Arab creative landscape.
Rashid Abdullah Al Obad, Director General of Shams, emphasized that the selection of jury members aligns with Shams' commitment to elevate evaluation standards amidst heightened competition and participation. He noted that the jury's expertise will ensure deserving works are recognized, encouraging the production of Arabic content that can reach wider audiences and leave a lasting impact.
Al Obad reiterated that the award continuously adapts its categories to keep pace with the rapid changes in the content sector, fostering new Arab talent. He reaffirmed Shams' role as a hub for media innovation, supporting impactful media projects.
The announcement is part of preparations for a special ceremony later this month to honor the winners, as Shams continues its efforts to promote relevant Arabic content and spotlight significant contributions to the contemporary Arab media scene.
