Sharjah: Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has initiated a winter relief program, distributing essential supplies to 1,500 families in the Syrian Arab Republic as part of its "Warm Winter" campaign. The initiative focuses on aiding residents in Shabaa, Al Harjan, and Deir Al Asafeer.
According to Emirates News Agency, the campaign has successfully delivered 1,500 food parcels, 1,500 hygiene kits, and approximately 4,000 winter clothing items for children. The distribution also included winter garments for adults and other necessary supplies, ensuring that affected families receive comprehensive support during the harsh winter months.
The relief effort was facilitated with assistance from Dubai Islamic Bank, and the delivery was carried out during a field visit by an SCI delegation led by Abdullah Sultan bin Khadem, Executive Director of the society. The delegation engaged directly with beneficiary families to assess their living conditions and identify their most pressing needs during the winter period.
Bin Khadem highlighted that the visit also encompassed official meetings to enhance coordination with relevant authorities, aiming to sustain humanitarian efforts and bolster community stability. These meetings included discussions with officials from the Syrian Ministry of Social Affairs, focusing on housing challenges and exploring support for family rehabilitation and small-scale productive initiatives.
Moreover, the SCI delegation held talks with representatives of the Syrian Ministry of Health. These discussions emphasized the importance of addressing hospital needs, providing essential medical equipment, and supporting mobile clinics and targeted medical campaigns for vulnerable populations.
