Dubai: Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) announced its participation in the 14th edition of the Sikka Art and Design Festival, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.
According to Emirates News Agency, the festival will run from 23rd January to 1st February at Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood as part of Dubai Art Season. Under the theme "Dubai's Visions, Narrating Our Future Identity," the event aligns with the Dubai's Quality of Life Strategy, which emphasizes culture and the arts as central to community development.
DFWAC's participation includes an interactive artistic experience inspired by the "Do You Know Me?" game, launched in mid-2024 as part of the foundation's initiatives to enhance family and community communication. The experience is showcased through an artistic mural and an interactive platform designed by Emirati talent. Visitors have the opportunity to engage with the game and receive it as a complimentary gift.
The initiative merges art with interaction, aiming to foster dialogue and engagement within families and the broader community. Sheikha Saeed Al Mansouri, Acting Director-General of Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, expressed that the participation embodies DFWAC's vision of utilizing art for positive social impact. She stated that the experience supports the objectives of the Year of the Family by promoting open dialogue and reinforcing family bonds through innovative and accessible initiatives.
Al Mansouri emphasized art's potential to rebuild family connections, describing the initiative as a chance for meaningful interaction that draws family members closer, away from screens and daily stresses. She also highlighted the foundation's dedication to empowering Emirati talents and supporting national creativity in developing community-driven initiatives.
Alanood AlMehairi, Creative Executive at DFWAC and designer of the mural and game, noted that the visual identity incorporates vibrant colors and a simple, welcoming design that appeals to all age groups. She explained that the artwork uses each question as a catalyst for reflection, interaction, and deeper understanding within a family-focused environment.
The Sikka Art and Design Festival is a key event in Dubai's creative scene, providing a platform for diverse art forms, emerging talents, and young artists from the UAE and the Gulf region. The festival features exhibitions, workshops, talks, public art installations, live performances, and local food and beverage offerings, showcasing Dubai's dynamic creative landscape.
