Istanbul: Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Centre for Teaching Arabic Language Education was inaugurated at Ibn Haldun University in Istanbul, Trkiye. The initiative is part of a collaboration between the United Arab Emirates University and Ibn Haldun University, aiming to promote the Arabic language in international academic environments and foster cultural cooperation between the UAE and Trkiye.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Centre will provide specialised educational programmes for teaching Arabic to Turkish and international students. It will also organise academic training courses, workshops, and support scientific research in Arabic language and culture. These efforts are expected to enhance cultural and intellectual exchange between the UAE and Trkiye.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State; Saeed Thani Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Trkiye; Saeed Saqer Al Muhairi, UAE Consul General to Trkiye; and Dr. Moza Al Hosani, Deputy Head of the UAE Mission in Trkiye. From the Turkish side, attendees included Dr. Irfan Gndz, Chairman of the University's Board of Trustees, faculty members, and students. Representatives from the United Arab Emirates University, including Dr. Suad Al Marzooqi, also attended.
In her speech, Dr. Maitha Al Shamsi highlighted the role of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak in supporting education and empowering women. She emphasized the inauguration of the Centre as a reflection of Sheikha Fatima's vision to preserve the Arabic language within international academic settings.
Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, stated that the Centre embodies Sheikha Fatima's vision and her efforts to promote the Arabic language globally. He noted that the Centre would serve as a cultural and educational platform, strengthening the presence of the Arabic language and fostering civilisational communication among peoples.
