ENEC and Ma’an Collaborate to Enhance Abu Dhabi Community Centre in Al Dhafra Region

Abu dhabi: The Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) has entered into a collaboration agreement with the Authority of Social Contribution - Ma'an, part of the Department of Community Development, to activate the Abu Dhabi Community Centre located in Madinat Zayed, Al Dhafra Region.

According to Emirates News Agency, ENEC is the first entity in the UAE to sign this agreement, which forms part of its efforts to enhance community engagement and promote social wellbeing in the Al Dhafra Region, home to the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant. The initiative, delivered in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, aims to provide high-quality, inclusive sports and recreation facilities to residents in the area.

The project is designed to encourage healthy and active lifestyles through various sports programmes and events targeted at youth, families, women, and People of Determination. It promotes balanced living, teamwork, and volunteerism, thereby fostering healthier habits and strengthening local sports culture and community spirit.

This initiative is part of Ma'an's From the Community to the Community programme, which aims to deepen community participation and the culture of giving in Abu Dhabi. It aligns with the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the designation of 2025 as the Year of Community, highlighting the significant contributions of individuals and organisations in driving meaningful social impact across the emirate.

The community centre will play a crucial role in strengthening community spirit in Madinat Zayed by offering programmes and activities that encourage an active, healthy, and cohesive community. The centre is designed to be inclusive, welcoming citizens of all demographics to benefit from its services. By creating new opportunities and enhancing overall wellbeing, the centre aims to energise the Al Dhafra Region and enrich the vitality of the Madinat Zayed community.

ENEC's approach to community partnership ensures that the benefits of clean, reliable electricity from the nearby Barakah Plant are matched by investments in health, cohesion, and opportunities for all residents. The agreement also supports the development of Emirati talent in the region by expanding job opportunities and promoting positive activities for youth, helping future generations to reach their full potential.

Mohamed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of ENEC, expressed pride in supporting the local community, stating, "Al Dhafra is our home, and we are proud to give back to those who neighbour our Barakah Plant." He emphasized ENEC's commitment to investing in facilities that enhance daily life and promote wellness and activity.

Abdullah Humaid Al Ameri, Director-General of the Authority of Social Contribution - Ma'an, remarked on the importance of partnerships in bringing key social projects to life. He noted that the collaboration with ENEC supports corporate social responsibility goals by connecting them with projects that address social priorities and community development.

The partnership is in line with Ma'an's broader mission to promote meaningful community engagement and foster a more inclusive society. By strengthening these connections, the authority helps drive sustainable social development and supports initiatives that enhance the overall wellbeing of Abu Dhabi residents.
