Abu dhabi: Saeed Al Hajeri, Minister of State, welcomed Maythong Thammavongsa, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, along with his delegation, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters. This meeting coincided with the delegation's visit to the United Arab Emirates for the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2026.
According to Emirates News Agency, the discussions centered on enhancing bilateral relations between the UAE and Laos, with a focus on economic, investment, technological, and renewable energy sectors. Both parties also addressed several topics of mutual interest, underlining their commitment to advancing cooperation and concluding agreements on avoiding double taxation and promoting investments as part of their sustainable development efforts.
An important outcome of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries. This MoU aims to establish a joint committee to further bilateral relations and expand cooperation in various sectors.
The meeting concluded with both parties expressing their dedication to enhancing cooperation and coordination to meet the interests and aspirations of the two nations and their citizens.
