Sharjah Ruler Inaugurates Al Dhaid Wildlife Museum as a Model for Environmental Education


Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the Al Dhaid Wildlife Museum in Al Dhaid City at its new location next to Souq Sharia’t Al Dhaid. The museum serves as an interactive platform showcasing the desert environment’s natural richness and cultural value.



According to Emirates News Agency, the museum is part of Sharjah’s vision to preserve the natural environment and educate the public. It targets families, students, researchers, and nature enthusiasts, offering advanced interactive educational platforms that utilize the latest technologies and teaching practices. The museum aims to build awareness of sustainability and wildlife protection, positioning environmental education as an effective tool for sustainable development.



During the inauguration, the Ruler of Sharjah highlighted the importance of scientific work in environmental preservation. He shared the success of his desert projects, including seed-collection efforts resulting in five million seeds collected in Sharjah and preserved in the United Kingdom for propagation and scientific research. This initiative underscores the effort to protect wildlife.



The museum’s exhibits focus on nature reserves and breeding plants and animals, highlighting their role in preserving species through ecological chains. H.H. discussed different plant and tree species, their conservation, and their benefits. He also mentioned the success of wheat projects that increased production while reducing water consumption.



The Ruler spoke about the University of Al Dhaid as a model for environmental studies, emphasizing partnerships with leading universities to offer academic and applied learning environments. He affirmed his commitment to preserving the Central Region’s identity through carefully planned projects, advising young people to protect the environment.



H.H. praised Al Wusta Channel for strengthening national identity and emphasized the importance of ethical conduct toward others and the environment. He noted that new projects provide regional employment opportunities, benefiting Sharjah and the UAE.



During his tour, H.H. explored the museum’s facilities, including the Desert Hall, Plant Hall, Insect Hall, Desert Animal Hall, Bird Hall, and Children’s Hall. Each hall offers educational content on the Arabian desert’s characteristics, adaptation methods, biodiversity, and species protection.



The museum is a strategic pillar in Sharjah’s environmental awareness system, reflecting the emirate’s commitment to a sustainable human-nature relationship. It features a unique architectural design, incorporating traditional Emirati elements and modern facilities supporting its educational mission.
