Ras al khaimah: Heart of RAK, a digital platform initiated by the Ras Al Khaimah Government Media Office (RAKGMO), recently hosted the latest installment of its Quality of Life Series. This event brought together government officials and leading developers to discuss the role of neighborhood design in enhancing community living across the Emirate.
According to Emirates News Agency, the session, titled Evolving Community Neighborhoods, examined how planning decisions, shared spaces, accessibility, and design contribute to connection, wellbeing, and long-term livability in Ras Al Khaimah. The event, held in collaboration with RAK Business Group and with RAKBANK as the Community Engagement Partner, showcased the collaboration between government entities and developers. Panelists included representatives from Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, Marjan, Al Hamra, and RAK Properties, who shared insights into the physical, social, and cultural evolution of residential communities.
Rouba Zeidan, Head of Special Projects at RAKGMO and moderator of the session, emphasized the importance of such discussions in highlighting the planning and collaboration efforts shaping local communities. Aaesha Al Shehhi, Executive Director of the Urban Development Sector at Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, highlighted the focus on people-centric planning, ensuring neighborhoods are inclusive, resilient, and aligned with the Emirate’s long-term vision.
Speakers from the development sector discussed the balance between large-scale projects and human-scale design. Graham Hallett, Chief Development Officer of Marjan, outlined how integrated master planning is influencing the Emirate’s waterfront and mixed-use communities. Abdulla Al Abdouli, Group CEO of Marjan, emphasized the significance of creating people-first destinations that prioritize wellbeing, accessibility, and sustainability.
Shadi Al Azzeh, COO of RAK Properties, underlined the collaborative approach in designing neighborhoods that promote long-term residency and social cohesion. Dilin Varkey, VP of Facility Management at Al Hamra, stressed the importance of lifestyle neighborhoods in supporting families and long-term investments.
RAKBANK’s Ahmed Hawas shared insights into how financial strategy influences residential ecosystems, highlighting the bank’s focus on projects that foster healthy and sustainable communities.
The Quality of Life Series continues to celebrate life in Ras Al Khaimah, focusing on different aspects of quality of life and fostering conversations to ensure the Emirate remains a connected and livable destination.
