ADRA Expands Consumer Rights Inspections Ahead of Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr

Abu dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Registration Authority (ADRA), a branch of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), is ramping up its inspection campaigns and regulatory visits across markets and shopping centers ahead of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr. This initiative aims to protect consumer rights and maintain quality and transparency throughout the emirate.

According to Emirates News Agency, the focus of these inspection campaigns is on key retail outlets, including shops, shopping malls, food suppliers, and warehouses. The goal is to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws and regulations, verify the accuracy of promotional offers, clarity of price displays, product quality, and expiry dates. These measures enable consumers to make informed purchasing decisions, particularly during Ramadan, public holidays, and peak seasons that typically see increased consumer spending.

ADRA has confirmed that its inspection teams will continue conducting regular field visits across Abu Dhabi to monitor and address any violations swiftly. Legal action will be taken against non-compliant establishments in line with applicable laws and regulations. ADRA has also urged consumers to report any violations through official consumer protection channels like the Abu Dhabi Government Services portal (TAMM), emphasizing that consumer cooperation is essential for maintaining a trusted business environment that balances consumer protection with business growth.

Mohamed Munif Al Mansoori, Director General of ADRA, stated that their efforts to protect consumer rights continue throughout the year. He highlighted the importance of inspection campaigns and regulatory visits to ensure compliance with business sector laws and regulations, especially during periods of increased commercial activity like Ramadan and holidays. Al Mansoori also announced the launch of an AI-powered consumer protection service on TAMM to enhance consumer awareness and encourage feedback.

Al Mansoori further added that these efforts demonstrate ADRA’s commitment to providing a fair, safe, and transparent business environment. The development and implementation of legislation, systems, and regulations are crucial in ensuring compliance and protecting consumer rights and trademarks, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s status as an attractive business and investment destination.
