Dubai: Al Waseef Group has announced a significant contribution of AED 2 million to the Edge of Life campaign, which aims to rescue five million children from hunger. The campaign, launched during Ramadan by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, seeks to raise a minimum of AED1 billion to combat childhood hunger globally.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Edge of Life campaign is part of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision to prioritize the fight against hunger. It is organized in partnership with UNICEF, Save the Children, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and Action Against Hunger, focusing on introducing sustainable food solutions and protecting children from hunger. The campaign targets the most vulnerable communities affected by natural disasters and conflicts, where statistics indicate that every minute, five children under the age of five die due to malnutrition and hunger.
Ubaid Memoni, Vice Chairman of Al Waseef Group, emphasized the humanitarian dimension of the campaign. He highlighted the urgent need for coordinated efforts to provide nutrition to children suffering from hunger and malnutrition in underserved communities. Memoni expressed his honor in joining the contributors to this Ramadan campaign and reiterated Al Waseef Group's commitment to the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.
A critical aspect of the campaign is the measurement of middle-upper arm circumference (MUAC), with a measurement below 11.5 indicating a life-threatening risk of malnutrition. The campaign continues to encourage donations from institutions and individuals through various channels, including its website, a toll-free number, and platforms like the DubaiNow app and YallaGive.com.
Donations can also be made via bank transfers to Emirates Islamic Bank and through SMS contributions. The campaign remains open to support from the community, with the shared goal of saving millions of children from the brink of hunger.
