FNC Speaker Engages with Chinese Ambassador to Enhance Bilateral Relations

Abu dhabi: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), has met with Zeng Jixin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to the UAE, to discuss bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting took place at the FNC's premises in Abu Dhabi, where both parties reviewed the development of ties between the UAE and China. They explored opportunities to enhance cooperation across various fields, reflecting the close and longstanding friendly relations between the two countries. Ghobash welcomed the newly appointed ambassador and expressed the FNC's aspiration to strengthen parliamentary cooperation during his tenure, emphasizing the importance of regular bilateral meetings to exchange expertise and best practices.

Ghobash addressed current regional developments, specifically referring to the aggression from Iran against the UAE, the GCC countries, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He noted that these attacks violated the sovereignty of states and breached principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, posing a threat to regional security and stability.

He further affirmed the UAE's policy of restraint and avoidance of military escalation, emphasizing its commitment to regional and international security, maintaining energy supply continuity, and ensuring global economic stability. Ghobash also highlighted the importance of parliamentary cooperation between the Federal National Council and the National People's Congress of China, recognizing the significant role of parliaments in enhancing cooperation for mutual benefit.

The Chinese ambassador commended the FNC's role in parliamentary diplomacy and confirmed the strong ties between the two nations. He reiterated China's support for the UAE's security and stability, advocating for de-escalation and diplomatic solutions to uphold regional stability.
