ALC Extends Research Grants Programme Deadline to April 30, 2026

Abu dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) has announced the extension of the application deadline for its Research Grants Programme to April 30, 2026. This decision comes in response to the strong demand for the initiative, highlighting a growing interest in supporting Arabic-language research across various fields of knowledge.

According to Emirates News Agency, the extension for the programme's sixth edition, scheduled for 2026, signifies the increasing enthusiasm for the Centre's initiatives. The ALC has called on researchers and creatives to apply through its website, following specific criteria, to attract high-quality projects that enhance knowledge production in Arabic.

The Research Grants Programme aims to support the authorship of academic books and encourage submissions from Emirati, Arab, and Arabic-speaking researchers. The goal is to promote the use of Arabic in research and authorship, build a robust knowledge base, and enrich the Arabic library while keeping pace with rapid scientific and cultural developments.

The programme offers six to eight research grants annually, with a total value of up to AED600,000. These grants are for research studies that comply with the approved academic standards. Submissions are invited across six categories, including Arabic Lexicon, Academic Curricula, Literature and Criticism, Applied and Computational Linguistics, Teaching Arabic to Non-Arabic Speakers, and Manuscript Editing.

Research submissions must be written exclusively in Arabic, comprising at least 50,000 words, and adhere to approved academic standards. They should present clear theoretical and methodological frameworks and include a well-defined work plan. Projects must be original, recent, unpublished, and not previously supported by any other entity.

Proposals undergo rigorous scientific evaluation according to international standards, assessing the research quality, expected impact, relevance to ALC's strategy, and the research track record of participating scholars. Since its inception in 2021, the Research Grants Programme has awarded 35 research grants under the Basaer (Insights) series, aiming to publish outstanding scholarly works that receive grants.
