Abu Dhabi Government Unveils New Model for Excellence in Government Performance

Abu dhabi: Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, the Abu Dhabi Government has launched a new model for the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance (ADAEP). The initiative seeks to empower government entities to incorporate a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, alongside enhancing collaboration and integration within a cohesive government system.

According to Emirates News Agency, the new model evaluates participating entities' initiatives, projects, and programmes against well-defined criteria through a rigorous multi-stage assessment process. This approach reinforces the award's role in enhancing government performance, focusing on improving quality of life and advancing institutional development in the emirate. The model is developed from years of accumulated expertise and advanced studies, aiming to raise institutional performance through a culture of collaboration and integration, utilizing technological solutions for sustainable community impact.

In line with Abu Dhabi's vision to integrate advanced technology, the current ADAEP cycle incorporates AI throughout its evaluation process. Key tools such as the AI Consultant, the AI Juror, and the AI Grand Jury Assistant provide precise data analysis and deliver comprehensive insights.

Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, emphasized that excellence is integral to Abu Dhabi's operations, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration. The award recognizes high-performing entities and teams, driving government-wide impact and ensuring sustainable societal value.

The current award cycle assesses 37 government entities and 103 initiatives with more than 90 local and international experts, supported by a grand jury including leaders from public and private sectors. There are six awards across two tracks: three excellence awards for high-performing entities and three awards for collaborative initiatives, focusing on strategic impact, digital and AI innovation, and community impact.

The evaluation framework involves independent assessments, AI tool support, quality assurance, technical reviews, and grand jury deliberation to ensure a comprehensive and independent assessment process. The official ADAEP awards ceremony is scheduled for April 2026 to honor the winning entities and initiatives and their contributions to advancing government excellence in the emirate.
