Abu dhabi: The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), following the directives of the UAE's leadership, has organized its first Artificial Intelligence Forum to present the ministry's vision for incorporating artificial intelligence technologies throughout its operations.
According to Emirates News Agency, this initiative follows the announcement of a new national framework aimed at transforming 50 percent of UAE government sectors and services within two years into autonomous, self-executing, and AI-led models (Agentic AI). This move strengthens the UAE's global position in creating a smarter and more efficient government structure.
The forum was attended by key figures including Eng Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI; Eng Mohammed Al Mansoori, Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Transport Affairs at MoEI; and Hesham Al Amiri, Executive Director of Services Development at the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Cabinet Affairs. A roadmap was launched to accelerate digital transformation and expand the use of smart solutions in operations and services.
The initiative aims to improve government performance, streamline procedures, automate operations, and speed up service delivery in line with global practices. The programme included sessions on AI adoption and workshops on developing innovative initiatives for integration into the executive roadmap for smart transformation.
The forum also marked the signing of the Artificial Intelligence Charter, showcasing the ministry's commitment to AI objectives, digital governance, and responsible technology use, aligned with the 'We the UAE 2031' goals. Additionally, the ministry announced awards to encourage national talent to propose innovative solutions for government efficiency and service agility.
Al Olama highlighted that the move towards autonomous AI models is transformative for government operations, enhancing service efficiency. He asserted that the ministry is advancing a digital ecosystem that promotes innovation and reinforces the UAE's leadership in smart solutions.
Al Mansoori emphasized that AI technology adoption across ministry sectors aids in efficient planning and operations, improving infrastructure resilience and service sustainability. He noted the ministry's ongoing use of AI technologies to accelerate procedures and enhance service quality.
Al Amiri pointed out that accelerating AI adoption is vital in developing a more agile government model. He stated that smart technologies help redesign government services, supporting the UAE's Zero Bureaucracy agenda and improving service quality and customer experience for future demands.
