Tokyo: Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, is participating in an international conference in Tokyo from 14th to 16th May. The event gathers leaders, decision-makers, and international experts to address pressing challenges facing the international order amid escalating crises and rapid geopolitical transformations.
According to Emirates News Agency, the conference began with a recorded message from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who emphasized the importance of international dialogue and cooperation in tackling global challenges. During a session focused on the Middle East, Al Jarwan highlighted the sensitivity of the region due to political crises and security tensions, particularly condemning Iranian attacks on Gulf states as violations of sovereignty and good neighbourliness. He called for a unified international stance to ensure regional security and stability, stressing the Strait of Hormuz's strategic importance for the global economy and energy security.
The conference also addressed the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence technologies and the need for regulatory frameworks to ensure their responsible use. Al Jarwan emphasized the role of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace and the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace in strengthening bilateral relations to manage crises effectively and achieve sustainable outcomes. He advocated for enhanced dialogue and cooperation among states to promote international security and stability.
Regarding Gaza, Al Jarwan pointed out the necessity of a just solution to the Palestinian issue, emphasizing the protection of human lives and the Palestinian people's right to dignity. On Lebanon, he expressed hope for stability and called for international support to secure its borders and reduce external interference, aiming for the country's return to stability through diplomatic efforts.
Al Jarwan concluded by asserting that sustainable peace requires practical policies respecting state sovereignty, enhanced dialogue, and trust-building among peoples. He renewed the council's commitment to spreading a culture of tolerance and understanding among nations.
