Dubai: The UAE Food Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Community Contributions Establishment - JOOD, aimed at bolstering strategic partnerships to support humanitarian initiatives and foster a sustainable culture of giving across Dubai.
According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was formalized in the presence of key figures including Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai and Chairperson of JOOD; Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director-General of Dubai Municipality; Marwan Rashid bin Hashim, CEO of JOOD; and Manal bin Yaroof, Head of the Executive Team at the UAE Food Bank.
The agreement focuses on unifying and activating community contribution channels by leveraging JOOD's digital platform. This platform will facilitate the collection and organization of financial contributions to support the UAE Food Bank's initiatives and campaigns throughout the year, adhering to high standards of transparency and governance.
Under the MoU, JOOD will enable contributions to the UAE Food Bank's programs through accessible and trusted digital channels. It will also provide periodic reporting mechanisms to measure impact and enhance transparency.
The collaboration will extend to joint awareness initiatives and programs aimed at reducing food waste and promoting responsible consumption. This effort will contribute to stronger community responsibility values and advance sustainable social impact across the emirate.
Marwan Rashid bin Hashim emphasized their commitment to reducing waste and maximizing the value of surplus food by redirecting it to those in need. He stated that the collaboration with the UAE Food Bank reflects this commitment and enhances community impact, reinforcing their mission to foster a culture of giving in Dubai.
Manal bin Yaroof highlighted that the UAE Food Bank views surplus food as a valuable resource for creating social impact. The partnership with JOOD aims to strengthen efforts in enhancing food collection and redistribution mechanisms, reducing food waste, and supporting vulnerable groups through a sustainable and integrated humanitarian framework.
The UAE Food Bank will identify priority initiatives and campaigns as part of the agreement, directing contributions to ensure the intended humanitarian impact is achieved. The partnership underscores JOOD's role as a strategic enabler, reflecting the integrated efforts to drive sustainable impact across Dubai.
