Sharjah Ruler Leads SCHESR Executive Committee Meeting

Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, chaired the meeting of the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research's (SCHESR) Permanent Executive Committee at its University City headquarters on Monday morning. The session centered on enhancing academic performance and fostering international partnerships.

According to Emirates News Agency, the discussions highlighted the importance of improving education quality and scientific research. Key topics included supporting the exchange of academic expertise, developing educational programmes, and aligning with international best practices. The Council approved directives aimed at boosting the emirate's universities' competitiveness by attracting academic and research talents globally.

The meeting also underscored the integration of modern educational technologies and digital solutions to enrich the academic process. This initiative aims to enhance students' learning experiences, create a flexible educational environment, and promote self-directed and continuous learning, thereby improving academic achievement.

Plans were also discussed to introduce specialised programmes in Sharjah's universities to meet future labour market demands, enhance academic diversity, and provide fields that support various sectors. The meeting reviewed academic partnerships with international universities to bolster expertise exchange and uphold global education standards.

Among the attendees were Dr Mansour bin Nassar, Chairman of the Legal Department of Sharjah; Dr Muhadditha Al Hashemi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Education Academy; Dr Aisha Bukhatir Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of SCHESR; Professor Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, advisor to the President of the University of Sharjah; and Dr Mohammed Yousef Baniyas, Advisor for Higher Education Affairs at the Sharjah Private Education Authority.
