Beijing: Quarter Century Theatre and Performing Arts Centre, a part of Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, continues its international 'Digital Theatre Programme' in China from May 18 to 31, 2026. The initiative aims to provide participants with cutting-edge training in digital performing arts to prepare a new generation for future theatrical innovation.
According to Emirates News Agency, the programme targets members from Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, Sharjah Youth, and Sharjah Capability Development. Participants are engaging in an intensive curriculum focused on integrating artificial intelligence and digital technologies into stage design and productions. The goal is to enhance their creative and technical capabilities while expanding their understanding of global theatre arts trends.
Throughout the programme, participants have attended specialized workshops and lectures covering modern theatre technologies. Sessions include 'Creative Transformation in Contemporary Stage Design Concepts', 'Integrated Innovation in Performing Arts and Stage Equipment', and 'Theatre Safety and Security'. Additionally, topics such as 'Exploring the Development of Visual Pre-Production Professions in Performances' and 'Fundamentals of Marketing Cultural and Entertainment Tourism Destinations' are addressed.
Cultural activities and performances supplement the training, alongside field visits to museums, cultural landmarks, opera houses, and live theatrical productions, offering participants direct exposure to Chinese culture and contemporary artistic practices.
Delegates from Rubu' Qarn institutions, including members Meeral Al Maazmi, Rayan Al Mansoori, Bader Al Ketbi, Mohammed Al Kaabi, Obad Khamis, and Rashid AlJasmi, are partaking in this specialized training. The supervisory team, led by Hamda Al Maazmi, Nour Jasim Mubarak, and Ali Al Maazmi, oversees the programme's organizational and supervisory aspects.
Participants will visit several leading facilities and exhibitions, such as the Guangzhou International Lighting and Sound Exhibition and Guangzhou Opera House, to explore the latest in theatre design and operation technologies. This experience bridges academic training with global practical exposure in digital performing arts.
Dr Adnan Salloum, Theatre Arts Expert at Quarter Century Theatre and Performing Arts Centre, emphasized the programme's role in empowering participants with future tools by merging artistic knowledge with digital technologies. The strategic partnership with the Yinchuan Theatre Design Authority in China offers a platform for participants to delve into technological advancements and digitalization in theatre.
The programme will conclude with a visit to Guangzhou Vocational Academy of Art, fostering academic exchange and dialogue in theatre arts and digital technologies. A graduation ceremony will celebrate the participants' achievements and skills acquired during the Arab-Chinese Theatre Design Programme. The programme aligns with Quarter Century Theatre and Performing Arts Centre's vision to integrate local theatre training with global practices in modern digital technologies.
