Marrakech: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), met with Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana, during the fourth Marrakech Parliamentary Economic Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Region in Morocco. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and Ghana, emphasizing the ongoing growth of ties across multiple sectors.
According to Emirates News Agency, both leaders stressed the importance of sustained joint efforts to elevate relations to broader horizons, benefiting both countries and their citizens. They commended the forum for its successful discussions on economic and development issues of mutual interest and highlighted the role of parliaments in fostering dialogue and economic cooperation.
Saqr Ghobash noted the growing development of UAE-Ghana relations, attributing it to the support from both nations' leaderships in enhancing bilateral cooperation. He emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting this growth through active parliamentary friendship committees and mutual visits, which bolster bilateral relations and shared interests.
The meeting also focused on enhancing parliamentary cooperation and activating the parliamentary friendship committee between the Federal National Council and the Ghanaian Parliament. This initiative aims to strengthen communication and coordination, supporting collaboration on issues of mutual interest.
Discussions included opportunities to expand cooperation, particularly in economic, investment, and development sectors, acknowledging the significant potential for further growth in line with the two nations' aspirations. At the meeting's conclusion, Saqr Ghobash invited the Ghanaian Parliament Speaker to visit the UAE to further strengthen parliamentary relations and joint cooperation avenues.
