Heavy Rain Triggers Flooding in Western Japan Amidst Approaching Tropical Storms

Abu dhabi: Heavy downpours caused significant flooding in parts of western Japan as two tropical storms approached the region, intensifying a seasonal rain front already affecting the country.

According to Emirates News Agency, Storm Mekkhala was positioned off the western coast of Japan's southern remote island of Amami on Friday afternoon, moving northeast as it approached the mainland. Concurrently, Storm Higos was traveling nearby, with both storms projected to reach the Tokyo region by Saturday, bringing further heavy rainfall, as reported by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The Fire and Disaster Management Agency reported that more than 30 homes experienced flooding in the areas of Nara and Hiroshima on Friday. Additionally, the severe weather conditions led to disruptions in train operations and flights across the affected regions.
