Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, extended his congratulations to four Emirati students from Dubai Schools - Al Khawaneej for securing the gold medal at the International Greenwich Olympiad. The event took place in London from June 14th to 20th, 2026, and attracted talented students from over 80 nations.
According to Emirates News Agency, the students, Ali Al Jarwan, Khalifa Al Marzouqi, Omar Al Balushi, and Saeed Abu Al Shawareb, impressed judges with their project, "Smart Irrigation Train". This innovative solution leverages the Internet of Things (IoT), solar energy, and smart agriculture technologies to enhance water resource management in remote agricultural regions.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the importance of nurturing young national talent as a strategic priority to prepare future generations for leadership in a rapidly evolving world. He highlighted the value of creative minds as a national asset, capable of transforming knowledge into innovative solutions to generate new opportunities and drive sustainable progress.
The Crown Prince praised the students for their achievement, which brings honor to Dubai and the UAE, and encouraged them to persist in their academic and scientific endeavors. He urged them to continue their innovative work, serving as exemplary figures for young people across the emirate.
The International Greenwich Olympiad is a prestigious global project competition that invites students worldwide to present creative solutions in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), art, and media, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
