Abu dhabi: FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that the FIFA World Cup 2026, set to take place in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, is expected to generate up to $15 billion in revenue. Infantino highlighted the potential for new investment opportunities and the aim to maximize FIFA's commercial potential to support global football development.
According to Emirates News Agency, FIFA functions as a non-profit organization that reinvests its tournament revenues into the growth of the game across its 211 Member Associations (MAs), with the FIFA World Cup being the main revenue source. Infantino expressed confidence that the anticipated revenues from the 2023-2026 cycle could surpass the $15 billion mark, providing the organization with unparalleled resources to assist its MAs.
Infantino stated at a meeting in New York, USA, on the eve of the FIFA World Cup 2026 final, that the tournament's success has opened numerous opportunities. He emphasized that the financial success relies on making the right decisions from a sporting perspective. The increase in funding is expected to reach a record $2.7 billion for the 2027-2030 cycle, marking an eight-fold increase since the initiative's inception a decade ago. During Infantino's tenure, FIFA has invested $5.1 billion into global football development through its MAs.
