Abu dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, recently received a delegation from Etihad Rail, the developer and operator of the UAE National Railway Network, at Al Nakheel Palace. The meeting, led by CEO Shadi Malak along with senior executives, focused on the latest developments in the railway network, including the upcoming passenger rail stations in the Al Dhafra Region and joint projects in Al Sila'a.
According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed was briefed on key achievements, including the inaugural passenger rail services launched between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah on 30th June. The delegation discussed the strategic importance of these developments, emphasizing the support of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in advancing the UAE's vision for a sustainable transport system. The Sheikh praised Etihad Rail's efforts in enhancing national connectivity, aligning with broader development goals.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the recent inauguration of the Mohammed bin Zayed City passenger railway station by H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as a strategic milestone in the UAE's transport sector. The Sheikh announced the acceleration of the Madinat Zayed and Liwa passenger stations' launch, now scheduled for 30th November 2026, to coincide with the Al Dhafra Region's events season, facilitating better access and movement for visitors.
The briefing included insights into the significant demand generated by the project since operations began, indicating strong customer confidence in the services provided by Etihad Rail. Sheikh Hamdan praised the achievements of the UAE National Railway Network in strengthening the country's transport infrastructure, highlighting the role of national talent in expanding the passenger rail service across the UAE.
