Accra:Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), has expressed his support for the European Parliament's resolution which calls for a unified European strategy to counter terrorist Muslim Brotherhood networks and their activities.
According to Emirates News Agency, Ghobash emphasized that the resolution marks a crucial step in enhancing international efforts to combat extremism and terrorism. He highlighted the threats these networks pose to the security and stability of communities.
Ghobash noted that effectively countering the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood requires consistent, coordinated international action. This includes strengthening cooperation, sharing information, cutting off funding sources, and combating activities that contribute to the spread of extremism and undermine stability.
He also pointed out that the resolution's true significance lies in its implementation through concrete, coordinated action. This involves exposing these networks and their funding sources, limiting their ability to exploit institutions and community-based activities, and protecting societies through decisive action in accordance with the rule of law.
Furthermore, Ghobash emphasized the importance of enhancing international and parliamentary cooperation to combat extremism and terrorism. He reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to supporting global efforts aimed at protecting communities, promoting tolerance and coexistence, and advancing regional and international peace and stability.
