Mohamed bin Zayed City:Emirates National Schools (ENS) has been awarded the prestigious LEED Platinum certification for its Mohamed bin Zayed City Campus, marking it as the first school in the Middle East to earn this top rating from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system, managed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC).
According to Emirates News Agency, this accomplishment places the campus seventh globally among schools offering similar grade levels. The certification highlights the campus's excellence in energy and water efficiency, resource management, indoor environmental quality, and environmental impact reduction.
ENS has also demonstrated its dedication to sustainability at its other locations in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah, where each campus has achieved LEED Gold certification. This reflects the organization's comprehensive strategy to develop educational facilities in line with global standards.
Lachlan Ewen MacKinnon, Director-General of ENS, emphasized that the LEED Platinum certification aligns with their vision to create educational institutions based on global standards and to invest in the future of upcoming generations. He stated that the LEED Gold certifications of several other campuses also indicate a widespread commitment to these principles throughout ENS's educational system.
MacKinnon further noted the connection between sustainability and their goal of preparing future leaders, emphasizing that the educational environment is a vital part of the student experience. ENS is committed to ensuring that its schools embody values of responsibility, sustainability, and resource consciousness. The organization continues to develop its infrastructure based on global sustainability standards to enhance educational quality and meet future generational needs.
