Emirates Health Services Achieves Landmark Healthcare Sustainability Certification

Accra:Emirates Health Services has become the first health system globally to earn the international Healthcare Sustainability Certification. This certification was developed by Joint Commission International in collaboration with the International Hospital Federation's Geneva Sustainability Centre and covers all 17 EHS hospitals.

According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Yousef Mohamed AlSerkal, Director-General of EHS, stated that this accomplishment underscores the priority placed by EHS and the UAE on developing a sustainable, resilient, and future-ready healthcare sector.

Dr. AlSerkal emphasized that incorporating environmental responsibility, health equity, and effective governance into EHS operations turns national sustainability ambitions into measurable actions. This supports the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative and demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to international sustainability standards.

The certification is a testament to EHS's emphasis on data-driven approaches, innovation, and service efficiency, aligning with the UAE's sustainability agenda, the momentum from COP28, and the objectives set forth in UAE Centennial 2071.
