Abdullah Bin Zayed and Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister Discuss Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Security Concerns

Abu dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Xavier Bettel, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, and Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of Luxembourg during his working visit to Luxembourg. The meeting resulted in the signing of a cooperation agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters between the two countries.

According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement was signed by Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State, and Elisabeth Margue, Luxembourg's Minister of Justice. The meeting included discussions on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring opportunities for cooperation across various fields.

The ministers addressed regional and international issues of mutual concern, exchanging views on recent developments in the region. They specifically discussed the repercussions of Iran's attacks against civilian sites in the UAE using missiles and drones, highlighting the implications for international maritime security, energy supplies, and the global economy.

The discussions also covered the terrorist drone attacks from Iraqi territory, including an attack targeting the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant. Xavier Bettel expressed Luxembourg's solidarity with the UAE and condemned the attacks. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah appreciated Luxembourg's supportive stance and assured the safety of all residents and visitors in the UAE.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, and Mohamed Ismail Al Sahlawi, UAE Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union.
