Salalah: Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Integrated Tourism Complex project in Salalah, Oman, with a total investment of AED764.5 million, underscoring its ongoing commitment to enabling key development projects in the tourism sector. The project aligns with the Fund's broader strategy to foster sustainable growth in partner nations through high-impact projects that promote economic diversification and strengthen tourism infrastructure.
According to Emirates News Agency, the ceremony was attended by Azzan Al Busaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, and the Manager of Dhofar Municipality, representing Oman. From the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Rashid Al Kaabi, Executive Director of the Investment Sector, and Mohammed Al Hamedi, Technical and Admin Support Manager, were present.
Spanning a total area of 2.5 million square meters in Jinawf, Oman, the development aims to enhance Salalah's tourism infrastructure through the construction of world-class hospitality facilities. The project also supports Oman's national goal of economic diversification and reinforces its position as a leading tourism hub globally.
The first phase covers approximately 604,000 square meters and includes the construction of a luxury resort with over 120 rooms and chalets. Developments also include the marina, rehabilitation of coastal areas, and essential infrastructure works such as roads and public utilities, aiming to enhance Salalah's tourism profile.
Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of ADFD, stated that the project exemplifies the strategic ties between the UAE and Oman. It reaffirms ADFD's commitment to supporting partner nations through investments that enable economic growth and generate sustainable impacts for local communities. The project aligns with ADFD's vision of economic diversification and advancing sustainable development through regional partnerships.
Azzan Al Busaidi highlighted that the project is expected to create numerous job opportunities and stimulate growth across economic sectors. It will enhance local capabilities by integrating SMEs in key projects and offering training programs for Omani nationals in hospitality and tourism. This initiative aligns with Oman Vision 2040, positioning tourism as central to economic diversification.
Aligned with ADFD's strategic investment goals, the project will bolster tourism's contribution to Oman's GDP, generate employment, and support infrastructure development, reinforcing the country's position as a regional tourism hub.
