Abu dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro Association has announced the details of the upcoming Barcelona International Championship, set to take place on Sunday in Barcelona, drawing wide international participation.
According to Emirates News Agency, the one-day event will be hosted at the La Marbella Municipal complex. It will feature male and female competitors across various age divisions, including kids, juveniles, juniors, youth, men, and masters, catering to both amateurs and professionals. Zaid Egleton, Operations Director at the Association, confirmed the official weigh-in procedures will occur in two sessions: the first from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on April 4th, and the second from 8:00 am to 9:00 am on April 5th. The competitions are scheduled to commence at 10:00 am Barcelona time.
The championship's first-place winner in the professional category will earn 600 points in the annual international ranking, along with a cash prize. This incentive underscores the championship's importance and technical value, attracting elite players worldwide. The event is part of Abu Dhabi's efforts to expand jiu-jitsu globally, solidifying its position as a leading centre for the sport through international competitions that foster participation and talent development.
