Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026 to Convene Global Leaders for Systemic Change

Abu dhabi: Under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2026, hosted by Masdar, is set to begin next week. The event will bring together Heads of State, ministers, government officials, business leaders, investors, and innovators to tackle pressing sustainability challenges and outline a roadmap for global progress.According to Emirates News Agency, Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi highlighted at a press conference that ADSW has grown into the world's largest sustainability gathering, with the 2026 edition expected to be the most ambitious yet. Al Ramahi emphasized the critical timing, stating, "We need to align the systems we rely on today with those we urgently need tomorrow." The theme for 2026, 'The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,' underscores the opportunity to lead global systemic change. Energy transformation will be a central focus, coinciding with Masdar's celebration of 20 years in renewable energy leadership.ADSW 2026 a ims to set a new global benchmark for collaboration and measurable impact. The event will encourage leaders across various sectors such as energy, finance, food, water, and nature to rethink their interconnections and scalability. The press conference also featured insights from key figures including Francesco La Camera, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and other partners.La Camera remarked on the significance of the global energy transition, noting that electricity is poised to become the primary energy carrier by 2050. He acknowledged the challenges faced by developing countries in accessing the benefits of renewable energy and reiterated the importance of platforms like Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in advancing sustainable energy solutions.Ahmed Al Falasi from the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy emphasized the need for smarter, cleaner, and more resilient energy and water systems, with artificial intelligence playing a pivotal role. Ali Alshimmari of Global South U tilities highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in the Global South and introduced the Global South Forum as a new initiative within ADSW.Leen Alsebai, representing the World Future Energy Summit, pointed out that ADSW 2026 marks a critical juncture for moving from innovation to action. The Summit aims to integrate advanced technologies to accelerate energy transformation and deliver scalable clean energy solutions.ADSW 2026 will feature several key events, including the IRENA Assembly, the Zayed Sustainability Prize Awards, and the World Future Energy Summit.
