Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, recently chaired a meeting emphasizing the importance of global engagement and innovation in Dubai's media sector to maintain its influential position in the international media landscape.
According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed reviewed recent initiatives launched under a new strategy aimed at accelerating the sector's development. The strategy aligns with Dubai's vision for leadership in vital industries, focusing on deepening engagement with leading global institutions and integrating cutting-edge innovation. H.H. underlined the necessity for stronger collaboration across the media sector to ensure it aligns with Dubai's global ambitions, highlighting the emirate's potential to contribute to global discourse through high-quality content.
Additionally, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed highlighted the vital role of the Mohammed bin Rashid Scholarship for Emirati Media Students in empowering national talent. He emphasized equipping youth with the knowledge and skills needed to lead the next phase of growth in Emirati media, producing content that is both authentic and globally competitive.
The meeting also reviewed the Dubai Media Council's Media Leadership Programme's recent engagement in the UK. Participants engaged with leading organizations, gaining insights into communication best practices and emerging media technologies. Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, noted the significance of such international programs in achieving a globally connected and future-ready media sector. She stressed that these programs offer emerging media leaders opportunities to exchange ideas and build lasting relationships to advance strategic communication and media innovation.
The Council discussed the development of Dubai Media Incorporated, progressing in line with a comprehensive strategy to position it as a regional leader in the evolving media landscape. The meeting also reviewed outcomes of the Mohammed bin Rashid Scholarship for Emirati Media Students, which has opened applications for its third edition for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council, announced the expansion of the scholarship program to include more prestigious global universities. She emphasized the importance of introducing media training at the school level to foster early awareness and prepare students for future careers in the field. She highlighted the Council's mission to nurture young talent and equip them with the necessary skills and mindset to lead the future of media on both regional and global stages.
The meeting was attended by Council members including Malek Al Malek, Aisha Miran, Khalfan Belhoul, Mohammed Al Mulla, Younus Abdulaziz Al Nasser, Arif Amiri, and Hesham Al Olama.
