Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, held a meeting today with His Eminence Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Arab Media Summit.
According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed extended a warm welcome to Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb and wished him continued health and well-being. He conveyed his appreciation for Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb’s efforts and acknowledged Al-Azhar’s significant role in promoting tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect. He also commended the institution for conveying the core essence of Islam, which is based on values of goodness, coexistence, and harmony.
The meeting, which was attended by notable figures including H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Olympic Committee, and H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, emphasized the UAE’s dedication to advancing shared human values and fostering a culture of coexistence and intercultural dialogue. Discussions during the meeting also highlighted the UAE’s efforts to promote global peace, understanding, and rapprochement.
Another focal point of the meeting was the critical role of media in promoting authentic Islamic and Arab values and countering harmful narratives targeting youth. Participants underscored the importance of equipping media professionals to confront these challenges, emphasizing the media’s powerful influence in shaping societies and protecting cultural and ethical foundations.
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar lauded the UAE’s significant role in these areas, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, on both Arab and international fronts. He commended the UAE’s initiatives in advancing Islamic values and its contributions to peace and development through an approach rooted in human dignity and compassion.
His Eminence also expressed gratitude for the UAE’s ongoing focus on issues facing the Islamic world, highlighting its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people at all levels.
The meeting was also attended by Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office and Chairman of the UAE Media Council, along with Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, President of the Dubai Press Club, and Chairperson of the Organising Committee of the Arab Media Summit.
