Ajman: The Ajman Department of Economic Development (Ajman DED) has issued a circular requiring all economic establishments, suppliers, and wholesale and retail traders in the emirate to submit prior notification, along with documented economic justifications, to the Ministry of Economy and Tourism before altering the prices of essential goods in the local market.
According to Emirates News Agency, this initiative is a part of the ongoing efforts to enhance market stability and protect consumer rights while reinforcing transparency and economic oversight. The measure aims to support the integration with the private sector, contributing to balance and sustainability within Ajman's commercial environment.
The Department emphasized that this regulation is grounded in UAE's applicable legislation and seeks to monitor economic fluctuations in the local market. It requires clear and transparent justifications for any changes in the prices of essential goods.
Furthermore, all traders, suppliers, distributors, and retail outlets, whether individuals, institutions, or companies, are mandated to comply by submitting notifications through the ministry's approved electronic channels prior to implementing any price adjustments on the regulated goods.
In this context, the Department highlighted that the list of essential goods under this regulation includes 29 strategic items crucial to consumers' daily needs.
