The head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, received in his office this morning, the Japanese ambassador to Baghdad, Futoshi Matsumoto.
Al-Hakim stressed during the meeting, according to a statement from his office: "Iraq has overcome many problems at the political, security and social levels, and it is eager to perpetuate the stability it is witnessing in order to turn it into a permanent one," stressing the need to strengthen cooperation between Baghdad and Tokyo in the field of productive sectors such as agriculture, industry and tourism, investment and technology due to its expertise and experience.
He also affirmed Iraq's firm desire to open up to everyone in a way that guarantees its interests and preserves its sovereignty, explaining: "The stability of Iraq is a basic condition for the stability of the region, proven by experience."
