Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani met, this evening, Thursday, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, and his accompanying delegation.
According to a statement by Al-Sudani’s office, the meeting witnessed discussion of the overall bilateral relations between the two countries, and the regional and international situations. The recent developments in the Palestinian territories, the siege imposed by the Zionist occupation forces on the Gaza Strip, and the bad humanitarian conditions experienced by the brotherly Palestinian people were also discussed.
Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq's firm and principled position regarding the right of the Palestinian people to a decent life and the establishment of their independent national state on their land and historical soil, stressing the need for the international community to move to save the people there from their plight.
For his part, Abdullahian conveyed the greetings of the Iranian leadership to Al-Sudani, and its emphasis on the pivotal role that Iraq plays, in the Arab and Islamic arenas, regarding the region’s problems and the efforts seeking to solve them.
