Abu dhabi: Al Wahda Club Jiu-Jitsu Academy successfully retained its title as champion of the Jiu-Jitsu President's Cup, with the semi-final and final rounds for the over-18 category taking place on Sunday at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City. Aref Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, presented the trophies to the winners during the closing ceremony.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event was attended by a host of dignitaries and officials, highlighting its prestige as a key event on the national sports calendar. Al Wahda Club Jiu-Jitsu Academy, entering the competition as defending champions, managed to secure the title once again. Al Awani congratulated the athletes for their dedication and hard work, emphasizing the significant role of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation in advancing the sport and preparing athletes for international competitions.
The competition was graced by the presence of Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri and Yousef Al Batran, Board Members of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; Ali Saeed Al Mazrouei, Chairman of Al Wahda Sports Cultural Club; Mubarak Al Menhali, Technical Director at UAEJJF; Abdullah Al Zaabi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at UAEJJF; along with representatives from participating clubs, partners, and academies.
Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri remarked on the importance of the Jiu-Jitsu President's Cup for athletes and clubs, noting it as a pivotal platform for showcasing skills and measuring the technical growth of the sport in the UAE. He acknowledged the continuous support from the nation's leadership and commended the efforts of the clubs in nurturing and developing athletes.
Ubaid Miftah Al Muhrazi, Sports Director of Al Wahda Sports Cultural Club, expressed pride in winning the Cup, attributing the success to meticulous preparation and planning, as well as the athletes' unwavering focus during critical moments of the championship. He emphasized the significance of retaining the title, which reinforces the importance of investing in talent and consistent training.
Al Wahda Club Jiu-Jitsu Academy athlete Omar Al Suwaidi shared his excitement over the victory, expressing how the intense competition and strong challenges in each round were met with confidence and preparation.
