APC to Hold Cultural Identity Session for Arab Children in Sharjah

Sharjah: The Arab Parliament for the Child (APC) is set to hold a session on July 26th titled "The Cultural Identity of the Arab Child," featuring broad participation from parliament members across various Arab countries. This initiative is part of the APC's ongoing efforts to prepare for the second session of its fourth term, which will take place at the headquarters of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) in the UAE.

According to Emirates News Agency, the session underscores APC's dedication to embedding the concepts of Arab cultural identity in the minds of children, fostering a sense of pride in their cultural and value-based heritage. This effort aims to cultivate a strong sense of belonging and pride in the language, history, and culture of the Arab world, equipping future generations to defend their values and identity amidst growing global challenges.

The event will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, with support from Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. This partnership reflects a unified Arab commitment to empowering children to engage in dialogue and express themselves within a supportive institutional framework.

Elias Al Maani, President of APC from the Sultanate of Oman, will chair the session, reinforcing the principle of empowering children and motivating them to take on leadership roles. These roles are designed to enhance their skills and encourage them to think critically, discuss, and present ideas on issues pertinent to their lives and aspirations.

Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of APC, highlighted that the Cultural Identity Session is timely, as emerging generations need to reconnect with their rich Arab culture while remaining open to the world. He emphasized that the Parliament ensures its sessions provide a platform for Arab children to express their visions freely, thus contributing confidently and determinately to their future.

Al Barout further noted that hosting this session in Sharjah, recognized as the Arab Capital of Culture, under the patronage of the Ruler of Sharjah, is a source of pride. It aligns with the UAE's vision to support and empower children at both Arab and international levels.
