Moroni: Professor Jamal Salem Al Tarifi, President of Al Qasimia University (AQU), inaugurated several Quran memorisation schools in the Republic of Uganda, the Republic of Kenya, and the Republic of the Comoros. This initiative is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at establishing Quran memorisation schools across Africa.
According to Emirates News Agency, in Moroni, the capital of Comoros, the “Rifqa Knowledge School” was inaugurated, named after the late Al Qasimia University student, Rifqa Yousef. The inauguration was attended by Juma Rashid Al Rumaithi, UAE Ambassador to the Comoros, alongside senior local government officials. The school is set to conduct Quran memorisation sessions and will feature a library stocked with publications from the Kalimat Foundation in Sharjah.
President Osman Ghazali of Comoros warmly received the AQU delegation, commending the UAE’s support and expressing gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi for his contributions to development and education in Comoros, recognizing his charitable initiatives.
In Nairobi, Kenya, Al Turaifi inaugurated the Quran Memorisation School and met with Dr. Salem Ibrahim Al Naqbi, UAE Ambassador to Kenya and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Nairobi. He also engaged with AQU graduates who acknowledged the university’s role in enhancing their academic and intellectual growth, pledging to uphold values of moderation within their communities.
In Uganda, several Quran memorisation schools were inaugurated in the capital, Kampala. Here, Al Turaifi interacted with AQU graduates who shared their educational and community service achievements, attributing their success to the values instilled by the university, which they regard as guiding principles in their professional lives.
These initiatives reflect AQU’s dedication to spreading Islamic knowledge and fostering cultural communication, thereby contributing to global harmony and understanding. Accompanying the University President on his itinerary were Dr. Zakaria Nouh, Director of the Office of International Relations and Student Recruitment, and Professor Omar Al Ali, Head of the University’s Passports Department.
